• “I’ve always been a bit obsessed by the flag. I’ve been painting and collecting them for a long time, long before 9-11. My daughter called from Chicago that day and told me to turn on the TV. I don’t like the TV, don’t watch it much, but I turned it on. I cried when I saw what was happening. After the planes hit, all I wanted to do was to try and help those in need, but I was too far away. So, I just started painting. It helped, y’now? I like to paint old things, bits of junk like corrugated iron, bicycles, or that bedstead against the fence with “God Bless George Bush” on it.
“I put the paintings in the yard and friends and strangers saw them and stopped. It helped them too, so I started to give them away. Now I sell them to people that stop by and to a couple of shops in town.”
